The total weight of a six-axle semi-trailer shall not exceed 49 tons (two-wheel drive) or 46 tons (single-wheel drive)
Regarding the weight limit of the semi-trailer, it is necessary to make a comprehensive judgment based on the model, number of axles and regional regulations, as follows:
1. Legal weight limit of six-axle semi-trailers
Chinese standard
Two-wheel drive model: The total weight of the vehicle and cargo shall not exceed 49 tons.
Single-wheel drive model: The total weight limit is more stringent and must be controlled within 46 tons.
International comparison: The weight limit in the United States is about 36.3 tons, in Europe it is 40 tons, and the Chinese standard is relatively high.
Overweight determination basis
In addition to the total weight, the following conditions must also be met (otherwise it is considered overweight):
The total height of the vehicle and cargo is ≤4 meters, the total width is ≤2.55 meters, and the total length is ≤18.1 meters.
Single axle load is ≤10 tons, and the total load of the six-axle group is ≤55 tons (allowed in some scenarios).
2. Weight and load capacity of different semi-trailer models
13-meter high-rail trailer
Light semi-trailers weigh about 6.3 tons and can carry 35 tons; ordinary semi-trailers weigh 6.8 tons and can carry 45 tons.
The legal upper limit is 34 tons, but in actual transportation, the cargo capacity may be increased through lightweight design.
Other semi-trailer types
Common tonnage ranges from 10 tons to more than 50 tons, such as dump semi-trailers, low-bed semi-trailers and other dump semi-trailers.
3. Precautions
Regulatory differences: Different regions (such as provincial roads) may have additional regulations on overloads, which need to be implemented in combination with local policies.
Safety advice: Overloading may result in fines (200-3000 yuan) or traffic accidents. It is recommended to give priority to lightweight models for compliant transportation.
