1. Classification standards for tanker truck volume
The volume of a tanker truck varies greatly depending on the model and purpose, and is mainly divided into the following three categories:

‌Small tanker truck‌: volume 3-10 cubic meters (or 3000-10000 liters), suitable for short-distance distribution or small construction sites, with a total length of about 6 meters.
‌Medium tanker truck‌: volume 10-25 cubic meters (or 10000-25000 liters), commonly used for replenishment at urban gas stations, with a vehicle length of 8-9 meters.
‌Large tanker truck‌: volume 30-70 cubic meters (or 30000-70000 liters), mainly used for long-distance transportation, such as semi-trailer models can reach 40-51 cubic meters.
2. Specific volume examples
Typical volume data provided by different sources are as follows:

Common capacities include 5,000 liters, 10,000 liters, 15,000 liters, 20,000-25,000 liters and 30,000 liters.
Light vehicles (such as Dongfeng Furika) have a volume of less than 6,000 liters, and heavy trucks (such as Dongfeng Tianlong) can reach more than 30,000 liters.
Railway tank cars (such as G60) have an effective volume of 62.09 cubic meters.
3. Volume calculation and safety limits
The volume can be calculated by the formula (long axis × short axis × height × 0.85), but the actual load must be controlled below 80%-85% to prevent risks caused by high temperature expansion.
The load capacity needs to be calculated in combination with the density of the oil product (for example, the density of diesel is 0.83, and a 50 cubic meter tank car can hold about 41.5 tons).
4. Other influencing factors
‌Classification basis‌: In addition to load, it is also divided according to drive form (such as 4×2 single-axle vehicle), tank shape (elliptical cylinder/trapezoidal), etc.
‌Regulations‌: Tank material thickness, safety devices, etc. must comply with national standards.
